NorthStar1, Yes, you need to configure the incoming/outgoing setting. By default it will use either Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook or none if not installed. The test & Enabled function after you approve email even, is mainly to test sending email using server side sync. So, you need to setting it. Outgoing or incoming setting is depends, depending on what you want. If you want to send only using that user or queue then you just configure the Outgoing, meanwhile if you wish that the email coming to the mailbox also coming to CRM as activities, for example auto conversion email to other record such as Case, you are definitely need the incoming setting. Using CRM For outlook you can also send email, but you have to send using the connector everytime you want to send email, not from CRM Web and you need to turn on and switch to your outlook since the email functionality is still up to outlook feature, CRM just embed it using connector. Then again as per mentioned, the test email run is not for CRM for outlook testing. Hope this helps! Thanks.
