Forum Post: RE: Is it possible to write back the data into CRM from a custom grid on the MS Portal?

You have to be more specific, because everything you change on the portal is in fact saved in CRM, because Portals is simply a CMS system with Dynamics 365 as a backend. The easiest way of doing some custom logic is to create a plugin in CRM that will run on Create/Update of entity which is saved on the portal

Sure, you can create an Online trial for 30 days for some testing purposes. Or if you have already an Online organization, you can create (or buy) Sandbox environment which will be up-to-date with the latest releases of CRM

Hi kashiffayyaz , I suggest you simply remove the problematic entity from your source solution. If you have the entity with the ressources in the target entity, your import shall work. At least it worked for me. Best regards. Kewin

Forum Post: RE: How do we assign the Customer Lookup value to Another Customer Lookup In Plugin(D365)

Hi Krishna, Is the lvt_customer of type Customer or Lookup? Because they're different, Customer type field is a lookup to a Account or Contact while Lookup field can only lookup to only one type of Entity. Please refer this: docs.microsoft.com/.../types-of-fields So make sure the lvt_customer field is also a Customer type field, not a Lookup to Contact entity. Hope it helps.

Well it depends who is the target user that I'm presenting the solution. For most of the Salesman for example, Unified Interface would be more than enough to handle all the necessary tasks (as it's usually working with activities, mobile devices etc). But in most cases I simply stay with the old UI, because there is always some "blocker" especially for more advanced users. If you cannot distinct the group of users that can use only Unified Interface (so the new UI), just stick to the old one. Maybe somebody else has better approach.

Dear Karsten, Thanks for your quick reply. But the problem is that we don't want all leads that are disqualified still on our distribution list. Most will be irrelevant (only some we want to re-target)... Furthermore, don't we need to delete the disqualified people in the near future to keep CRM manageable?

I have had the same issue. I have tryied emtying the cache several times but the problem remains. I have changed the browser and everything is back to normal. I am suspecting some cookies to be the source of this issue.

The Unified Interface in general is the way to go if you want to add new functionality and features, but it is still lacking some things that are currently only available in the "old" UI. Some of these features will eventually be added to the Unified Interface, but until that point, the choice will be up to you. If you can't have your users stick to only one interface and not having to navigate back and forth between the interfaces, I would stick to the old UI. If your users can make by with only the features of the Unified Interface, go with that. That is the direction Microsoft is going, and you should consider a lot of the advantages of the UUI. Hope this helps.

Hi Dineth. I'll put more details: If the relationship is 1:N and the primary entity is not business required, there are actually 2 "plus" icons in the subgrid One is the ADD NEW {0}: when you click it, a new window open for you to create a new related record One is the ADD EXISTING {0}: when you click it, a lookup field shows up for you to select an existing record. When you hide one of them, the other will show, so you need to hide both of them in the subgrid ribbon. If the relationship is 1:N and the primary entity is business required, you always have to create a new related record (because you can't create any related record without primary entity lookup for select an existing one in the subgrid). So you just need to hide the ADD NEW {0} If the relationship is N:N, you only have one option is to select an existing one. So you just need to hide the ADD EXISTING {0} In conclusion, just hide both of them and no need to worry about what relationship it is.

Great That Works but it only works for Subject and Body of the email. I want to fetch the contact person out of the Custom Entity and put it in the "To" in the New Email. How Can I do that?

Can field security control the visibility of a field? I feel like I've seen the Lock on fields where you can just edit them if you don't have the profile but I still see the field on the form. Can we hide the fields completely from users with field security so that they don't appear for them on the form?

Unfortunately I did not, I went a different route and iframed the portals into another site. This approach worked well for me. I do not see an issue with injecting javascript into the head element though, and then adding the second piece of tag manager into what portals calls the “website header and footer”.

Hello, You can't do it with customization. You will have to develop code for that.

Hello, If you're online I'm afraid the only option for you is to get in touch with Microsoft and open support ticket. If you're onprem you can turn on tracing, restart iis and repeat an error, then check logs. support.microsoft.com/.../how-to-enable-tracing-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm
